Cormac Boydell

Born in Dublin, Cormac Boydell came to live in Allihies in the inspirational landscape of the Beara Peninsula in 1972. Previous to becoming a full time artist in the 1980s he had worked as a geologist. Now known for the texture and beauty of his ceramic work, he is admired for glazes which are “an alchemy of bright, brilliant colours”. He likes to create his own colours out of minerals when possible, to give individual attention to each piece and to use no tools but his hands.
